EEU Shined At Championships

ANAHEIM, CA | November 21 2021 –
At SCSBOA, the Ensemble placed 4th with the highest scores in the history of EEU.

Esperanza Entertainment Unit, a competitive band & color guard unit, announced that EEU achieved a historical highest placement over the weekend at the SCSBOA 2021 Championships at Ramona High School. For EEU students, competing in these championships is an honor after months of hard work at field show practice and performances. Check out the EEU 2021 Field Show Recap.

“The 2020 marching band season included learning hip-hop dances on Zoom and fully virtual recordings of a show that never was” said Music Program Director, Mr. Davis. “(This year) these students have made the most of their opportunity to be together again!”

The Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association, or SCSBOA, an organization that oversees field show competitions and marching band reviews, hosted the 19th Annual Field Show Championships. After a lost season, 67 bands with over 8500 students performed across Southern California. The SCSBOA 2021 Program noted these students’ dedication and commitment as a tribute to the excellence and resiliency of instrumental music programs in our regional schools, and a validation of music education in our nation’s school system, and guarantee of an optimistic future for the United States.

“Students, directors, and programs have persevered through the pandemic and we are thrilled to watch them demonstrate once again their skill and creativity in the marching arts.” notes Jeanne Christensen, President of SCSBOA. “Championships are the combination of music, demonstration of learning, and dedication to the performing arts.”

Esperanza Aztecs finished Division 4A Field Championships with Colorguard and Percussion winning Bronze medals and the Band Ensemble finishing in 4th place overall. This year’s field show, titled “Broken Windows and Empty Hallways”, featured contemplative chords and pretty melodies and pared down auxiliary equipment with dance and movement.

“To the EEU for their Championship field show at SCSBOA with the highest finishes in the history of the EEU,” said Mr. Davis, “congratulations, and well done.”
